Who
doesn’t know a picturesque sunrise spot at Ada
Apa dengan Cinta (AADC) 2 movie? This overrated movie which gained over 1
million audiences for five days only, has commercialized chicken church as the
popular tourist attraction since 2016. The scene where Cinta (Dian Sastro) and
Rangga (Nicholas Saputra) are releasing a hearty longing takes place at the top
of this church that resembles a chicken. To have a perfect view, you need to do
a little bit effort by climbing stairs or rent a jeep and pay for the ticket
that costs IDR 15,000, free-snack included, which is fried cassava. The photo
spot upstairs will provide you magnificent scenery of Merbabu Mountain and
Borobudur Temple.
The
natural beauty of this chicken church becomes well-known destination for
tourists that usually visit after they went to the Borobudur Temple. This
renowned building is located at Bukit
Rhema and took 10-15 minutes, if you off from Borobudur Temple which less
than one kilometer to the west of the temple. Inside of this church, all
visitors will be devoted by the ground floor that full with prayer rooms of
different sizes and more like an exhibition about the history of the church. The
building is cool enough without aircon. The second and the third floor has got
a small eatery where you can have your snack while enjoying the lush green vegetation
with a view of mountain. The chicken's comb is the highest point of the
building. In here, you can have a stunning 360 degree view of the surroundings.
However, this part is so cramped that only about 5 - 7 people can be here at
one time.
The
challenge to reach this place is to hike up, because it is not accessible by
cars. First, you have to hike up the hills. For you who weak on walking, there
is a jeep shuttle service that available to take you right on the place with
IDR 7,000 per person only. Still and all, you can choose just walk through the
steep hills which certainly good for your health and enjoy the greenly view around
the track. Second, hike up the church structure up to its roof to meet the bird
view of the surrounding forest and the afar Borobudur. The ladder leading to
this section is extremely small, so it only can be climbed for one person only and
need an extra caution.
Trekking to the church is
a good challenge to be tried out. Do not forget preparing all troupes with
enough water, especially during hot weather season or summer. Get to the roof
and luxuriate the surrounding view that surely amazing to paid off your effort
toward the exhausted hiking. The cafe on the second level also created an
unforgettable experience for you by their traditional or even modern food to be
tested. Overall, this unique place offers an alternative for both good scenery
and picture-taking activities if you have extra time to spend. Interested enough?
